The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) was asked about whether a person should bow upon meeting someone else, and he said: He should not bow. He was further asked about whether he should hug and embrace him, and he replied in the negative. Then, the questioner asked him about whether he should shake hands with him, and he said: ‘Yes.’

• When one of you arrives at a gathering, he should say the greeting of Salām. He should also do so when he wants to depart, for the first greeting is not more meritorious than the last
• It is unlawful for a Muslim to desert his fellow Muslim for more than three nights. As they meet, both of them turn their backs on each other. But the best of them is the one who starts by greeting the other
• That he passed by some boys, so he greeted them with Salām and said that the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) used to do so
• Do not initiate the greeting of peace to the Jews or Christians, and if you meet one of them on the way, force him to narrowest part thereof
