In this Hadīth, the noble Companion, Talq ibn ‘Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) explained that he offered the Witr prayer with his family at the beginning of the night and then he led his people in prayer, but he did not pray the Witr prayer with them. Instead, he let another man lead them in the Witr prayer, because he had heard the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) prohibiting Muslims from offering two Witr prayers in one night.

• The most excellent fast after Ramadan is Allah's month, Muharram, and the most excellent prayer after what is prescribed is prayer during the night
• When one of you stands to pray, he is privately conversing with his Lord, or his Lord is between him and the prayer direction. So let no one of you spit in the direction of prayer, but only to his left or under his feet
• The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) used to stand in prayer at night until the skin of his feet would crack
• When one of you stands up for offering voluntary prayer at night and finds it difficult to recite the Qur'an accurately, and he is unaware of what he is reciting, he should lie down
