Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that when the Companions (may Allah be pleased with him) traveled and then stopped for rest or reached their destination, they would not hasten to perform the supererogatory prayer, despite their keenness to pray, until they unloaded the riding animals that carried their luggage. Out of mercy towards animals, they would hurry to remove the luggage off their backs to relieve them of their loads.

• (Voluntary) prayer in both the day and night is performed two by two
• The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) used to offer thirteen Rak‘ah in the night prayer including Witr, plus two (voluntary) Rak‘ahs of the Fajr prayer
• The Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) used to offer voluntary prayer on the back of his riding beast (camel), whatever direction it went. He would nod his head. Ibn ‘Umar would do so as well
• Witr is not incumbent like the status of the obligatory prayers, but it is a Sunnah that the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) started practicing
