Anas ibn Mālik (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Allah Almighty will say to the one receiving the least torment in Hellfire: 'If everything on earth was yours, would you ransom yourself with it?' He will say: 'Yes.' He will say: 'I had asked you for something easier than that when you were in the backbone of Adam: not to associate partners with Me, but you insisted on associating partners with Me.'" Explanation

The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said that Allah Almighty will say to the person receiving the least punishment in Hellfire after entering it: If the world and everything in it were yours, would you ransom yourself with it from this punishment? He will say: Yes. Allah will say: I had asked you and commanded you to do something easier than that when the covenant was taken from you while you were in the backbone of Adam: not to associate partners with Me. But when I brought you out to the world, you insisted on Shirk.
